Nature Strikes Back

Because I come home late from work, my sweet hubby is always reminding me to drive carefully. We live in a very rural area, with extremely low traffic. There are lots of things, I suppose, that might happen; but tonight (somehow) my mind took a strange bend.

We used to live in California and they had lots of drive-by shootings, and snipers taking potshots at freeway (highway) drivers. It was a scary place. What if I had to worry about that here? What might the dangers look like here?
